Workshop on Kant's practical philosophy with Prof. Jens Timmermann (St. Andrews)

What happens when humans fail to act according to their rational insight? In his book "The Will at the Crossroads" (Oxford University Press 2022), Jens Timmermann explores this question with a view to Kant's practical philosophy. In the workshop, we want to discuss Kant's answer to the question on the fallibility of the human will jointly with the author.

Jens Timmermann is Professor of Moral Philosophy at the University of St. Andrews. He is one of the leading experts on Kant's ethics and has published several monographs, edited volumes and numerous essays on Kant. There will be a preparatory meeting for the workshop online on 10.04.24 from 12-14h.

Was geschieht, wenn Menschen nicht ihrer rationalen Einsicht nach handeln? In seinem Buch „The Will at the Crossroads“ (Oxford University Press 2022) geht Jens Timmermann dieser Frage mit Blick auf Kants praktische Philosophie nach. Im Workshop wollen wir Kants Antwort auf die Frage der Fehlbarkeit des menschlichen Willens gemeinsam mit dem Autor diskutieren. 

Jens Timmermann ist Professor für Moralphilosophie an der Universität St. Andrews. Er gehört zu den führenden Experten von Kants Ethik und hat mehrere Monographien, Sammelbände und zahlreiche Aufsätze zu Kant veröffentlicht. Es findet eine Vorbesprechung zum Workshop im Online- Format statt am 10.04.24 von 12-14 Uhr.
