Weitere InformationenThe philosophical workshop “Perception-Thought Transitions: New Perspectives on the Bi-directional Relation of Perception & Thought” will take place on the 22nd & 23rd of October 2026 at Ruhr-University Bochum, Germany.
The workshop will focus on discussions of new philosophical results about the nature of perception and thought and their relationships.
Confirmed keynote speakers: Ned Block, Tyler Burge, Ophelia Deroy, Gabriele Ferretti, Kevin Lande, Fiona Macpherson, Francesco Marchi, Albert Newen, Ayoob Shahmoradi.
We are inviting philosophical contributions from philosophy of mind focussed on but not limited to the following topics:
- The representational structure of perception and thought: conceptual/non-conceptual, propositional/non-propositional, compositional/non-compositional, pictorial/non-pictorial
- The role of perception in grounding thought: conditions of grounding, format, content
- Constructive processes leading to perceptual representations and thinking
To be considered for a talk (30 minutes + 15 minutes discussion) please send an abstract of your proposed presentation of up to 500 words (excluding references) to: hilfskraefte-newen@rub.de„>hilfskraefte-newen@rub.de
The abstract should be anonymous, allowing blinded review, and accompanied by a second Word or PDF file containing author name(s), affiliation(s), and contact details. The deadline for abstract submissions is 01.08.2026. We plan to notify everyone about whether their abstract is accepted within two weeks after the deadline.
