FRIAS Fellowship Programmes 2024/25

The Freiburg Institute for Advanced Studies (FRIAS) offers individual fellowships for outstanding researchers across all disciplines. This funding allows researchers from the University of Freiburg and other institutions, both national and international, to focus exclusively on their research projects within an interdisciplinary community for a set period.

FRIAS Fellowship Programmes 2025/26

The Freiburg Institute for Advanced Studies (FRIAS) supports outstanding researchers from all disciplines with individual fellowships. The funding provides researchers from the University of Freiburg or other national and international research institutions with the opportunity to fully concentrate on their research project for a limited period of time.

The Programme offers the following Fellowships for the Academic Year 2025/26:

FRIAS Early Career Fellowships (4 to 10 months)
Scientists with a completed PhD and at least eight years of post-doctoral experience and at least six months research or study experience at academic institution(s) in a country different from the country of their first academic degree by the time of application.

FRIAS Senior Fellowships (3 to 8 months)
Scientists with a completed PhD and at least eight years of post-doctoral experience and at least six months research or study experience at academic institution(s) in a country different from the country of their first academic degree by the time of application.

FRIAS Sustainable Governance Senior Fellowship for African Researchers (7 months)
Scientists with a completed PhD plus a minimum of eight years of post-doctoral experience and six months research or study experience at academic institution(s) in a country different from the country of their first academic degree by the time of application, who have received a Master/PhD in an African country.
