Call for Papers
The 8th Finnish-Hungarian Seminar in Early Modern Philosophy at Heidelberg
Early Modern Philosophy and Post-Kantian Philosophy
22–23 September 2025, University of Heidelberg
Submission deadline: June 1
In a joint effort by philosophers in Finland and Hungary, the Seminar was founded to promote international cooperation among scholars of seventeenth- and eighteenth-century philosophy and later turned into a traveling event organized by different departments around Europe. The previous meeting was held in 2024 in Vienna at the Central European University. This will be the eighth meeting in a continuing series of seminars.
We invite prospective participants to send an anonymized abstract of about 500 words in .pdf format on any topic in early modern philosophy to fhsemp2025@gmail.com no later than the 1st of June. We are especially interested in submissions concerning the connections between early modern and post-Kantian philosophy, broadly construed. Please, indicate your name, university affiliation, and the title of your paper in the body of your email message.
Completed papers should aim at a reading time of 40 minutes or less. We hope to be able to support accepted speakers with a travel bursary of up to 200 euros.
Invited speakers: Karolina Hübner (Cornell), Johannes Haag (Potsdam).
For further information, please contact Oliver Toth at fhsemp2025@gmail.com.
Organizing and program committee: Oliver Toth (Heidelberg), Mike Griffin (CEU), Vili Lähteenmäki (Oulu), Ruben Noorloos.
